Great Movie, a Really Great Movie!

When the movie came out, I wasn't interested. Recently it was on TV and I caught part of it. I was intrigued so when it came on again, I taped it and after a few days finally watched the entire movie. I was shocked by how GREAT it really was and immediately bought the blu--ray version. The quality of the blu-ray is fantastic and the movie is even better! I can't believe I passed on this movie initially. If you haven't seen this movie, you are missing out on one of the best movies ever made. The movie, the acting, the script, the story of hope and especially the ending is incredible and it will make you smile. If you haven't already done this give the movie a chance, you won't regret it.

It's a timeless movie -- touching & moving...and worth an upgrade to blu-ray...

For whatever reason, my commercial DVD of this movie wouldn't play (no scratches...but whatever!) -- hence it was time to upgrade to the blu-ray version.
I won't comment on the movie itself...other than to say it is my 3rd or 4th favorite movie of all-time -- it is a truly touching & moving story, and expertly acted by the entire cast. I think it is also the first movie I saw Morgan Freeman in which, of course, makes it Legit all on its own. ;)

It's not a flashy blockbuster with explosions everywhere, but the natural-ness of the movie does come through faithfully in the blu-ray...far more than my previous DVD copy.

In short, it's a movie worth 'upgrading' to blu-ray...and if you've never seen it at all -- oh my are you in for a treat of a movie! :)

ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES EVER MADE. TIM ROBBINS EXCELS. BRAVO, BRAVO, BRAVO!!!

This film is universally recognized as AMONG THE VERY BEST MOVIES EVER MADE. THAT'S A TALL ORDER. TIM ROBBINS and MORGAN FREEMAN have created characters that will live on in your heart and memory. This story flows from the depths of overwhelming DESPAIR to the heights of GLORY. Reminiscent of Les Miserable, a young man is accused of a crime he did not commit and is incarcerated for decades to endure the worst of what life has to offer. AND IT AIN'T PRETTY!! THE REST OF THE CAST IS STELLAR!! I guess this is the ULTIMATE OF BUDDY MOVIES. The prison friendship that develops and evolves over decades between TIM ROBBINS AND MORGAN FREEMAN is a beautiful thing to see. It's a horror story that's NOT ALL BAD. QUITE THE CONTRARY. How could something so REPUGNANT eventuate into something so JOYOUS?
If you have never seen this movie, VIEW IT. (It's about 20 years old) DO YOURSELF A FAVOR.
